Postgame Recap: Kings vs. Blazers

Portland center Greg Oden picked up where he left off last night, again tormenting the Kings. Oden finished with a 20-point, 12 rebound performance in the Trail Blazers’ 89-86 win over the Kings at ARCO Arena. The Kings fell behind, 51-42, at the half but used a 13-4 spurt to tie the game up at 55-55 at the 7:06 mark thanks to Tyreke Evans’ fastbreak lay-up. Portland regrouped and built a 12-point advantage midway through the fourth quarter. After an Oden dunk gave Portland an 86-74 edge with 5:07 left in the game, the Kings used a 12-3 run capped off by Omri Casspi’s breakaway dunk to pull within three, 89-86, with 1:06 remaining. A turnover and a missed three-point attempt at the buzzer ended the Kings’ rally. Kevin Martin rebounded from his 2-of-10 shooting in Portland the previous night to finish with a game-high 28 points on 10-fo-17 shooting from the field, including 5-of-8 from three-point range. Evans finished with 14 points. Kenny Thomas, who got the start at forward, and Jon Brockman each grabbed a team-high six rebounds. Portland had five players score in double-figures, including Brandon Roy who tallied 13 points. LaMarcus Aldridge, who had scored 20 points against the Kings at Portland, was held to just three points on 1-of-5 shooting from the field. Portland won the battle on the boards, 37-31. Sacramento held Portland to just one point in the final four minutes of the fourth quarter and outscored them, 9-1, in that span.
