February 23, 2010 by Andrew Nicholson ·
Before the new-look Kings tip-off their three-game home stand, Kings.com took a two-minute timeout to get to know a little about No. 7, forward Dominic McGuire.
What would you like Kings fans to know about you?
“I’m Dominic McGuire. I just got traded to the Kings from the Washington Wizards. I’m from San Diego, Calif. I went to Cal-Berkeley and Fresno State, and I’m glad to be here.”
Having familiarity with Northern California, what makes you excited about returning to the area?
“The weather, just everything about it. I was stuck in D.C. We had a little snow storm out there, so I’m glad to be back out here with the sunshine and beautiful weather.”
What’s been the hardest part about adjusting to a new team?
“Really just learning the new plays and different terminologies. For the most part, everybody runs the same plays but there might be a different twist to it, so that’s the main thing.”
For fans who may not be familiar with your game, what do you add to the Kings?
“Defense, rebounding, toughness, another playmaker on offense and just a lot of athleticism.”
What do you think is important for this young Kings team as it builds for the future?
“Playing hard every night and bringing defense, those are the main things.”
How would you characterize the play of Carl Landry and Joey Dorsey, who are also new to the team?
“They’re very athletic, strong and tough. I think that’s what this team needs, so it’s definitely great to have them here with me.”
Before arriving in Sacramento, did you have familiarity with any of your other new teammates?
“We’ve played against them. Great young players, great young talent here, so we just have to build on it.”
What’s your personal goal for the final stretch of the regular season?
“Just try to make myself known out here. Be the defensive stopper for this team whenever I’m called upon and just be ready to play every night.”
