Happy New Year!
January 7, 2009 by Candace
Well the holidays have passed, and we’ve put our Santa-inspired costumes in storage, but the excitement remains. As some of you may know by now, we shot our first Sacramento Kings Dance Team calendar partnered by Endorush. With eight home games, dance practices, charity appearances, holiday festivities and our calendar shoot, December made for a busy month. Let’s just say our favorite beverage of choice during that time was coffee!
The photo shoot was a long process. We were split between two groups on two days and on the third day of shooting it was the entire team. Our days began at 6 a.m. with our hair and make-up. Then we patiently awaited our time to be called for our photos to be taken. It was a hurry up and wait scenario but that didn’t stop us from catching a few cat naps. Since we were unaware of the photography order, and the weather playing a significant role, it made for an anxious weekend. With the talented and creative eye of our photographer, Michael Higgins, he kept us upbeat and made us feel like superstars once it was our turn to strike a pose. After our three-day shoot and the third being a 14-hour day, it was time to get away from all the make-up and noise of Sacramento.
I had the opportunity to travel back home to Oregon for the holiday and upon arriving back in Sacramento, I had a greater appreciation and sense of fulfillment for my place at Maloof Sports & Entertainment. Being on the Dance Team means being a part of a passion that unites each of us. Our experience allows us to bond and grow together. While setting our routines for my first game back on Sunday, December 28th, 2008, I realized the SKDT is home… with a different kind of family! We have such a unique and dynamic group of ladies on the team this year it has allowed us to have extraordinary chemistry together. It’s been more of an affirmation to feel as strongly as I do for this dance team. I truly love my job and being apart of the Sacramento Kings organization!
This New Year has given me more excitement and has built more momentum to keep me going at a quicker pace for 2009. I can’t wait to hear more of the positive feedback from fans like you. There are still a few more surprises in the works, but you’ll have to wait and see what we have in store. Thanks again for being the best fans in the NBA! We’ll see you at ARCO!
