kept returning to the play-offs , but then that damned last shot by you know who just broke my heart

Chris Webber is someone I will always look up to. He led the Kings transformation from NBA doormats to the class of the league. He's the best player to ever put on a Kings uniform and he deserved a championship he was robbed of in 2002 as was the entire Kings organization. Thanks for the memories Vlade and C-Webb. I can't think of two more deserving individuals.

  6. Raymo on December 20th, 2008 1:33 am

I remember the days after Chris Webber in early 2001 when we just rolled over teams with the most entertaining style of play ever! SI called it the greatest show on court. I will never forget that series against LA where we truly were the better team. Even though we got jobbed in that series having the whole world know we were the better team and would have easily beat Philly in the Championship series gave me lots of pride and for those of us on board since 1985 a tremendous amount of satisfaction.

Thanks Chirs, Vlade, Peja, Doug, Mike, Jwill, and the Bench Mob!

  7. jon on December 24th, 2008 1:35 am

even though the kings were robbed out of a championship in 2002 , they should retire all the jerseys at arco from the 2002 as respect , since the league ordered game 6 to be fixed by david stern .

  8. Darren on December 25th, 2008 8:16 am

i jus like to say thanks to C-WEBB and VLADE for the support and effort they made for the kings organization, even though we are not looking good for a while now, and the trades that had been made that put us in that situation, but its alright we will climb back to the top after our first round pick. C-WEBB VLADE thanks for the seasons and the playoffs time that i had enjoy. ILL NEVER FORGET!! GO KINGS

  9. Dave on December 25th, 2008 8:39 am

Vlade- the 3 pointer that went in! His patience looking Chris, Peja, Hedo, Doug and Bobby right in the eye and keeping them focussed when emotions could have run over.

Chris- Waving his Fist in the air and saying "Not in my F$#@king House!" it gave me chills down my spine!

Loved that 2001-2002 team from Coach to the bench, It was magic!.

  10. Amna on December 26th, 2008 4:45 am

Vlade and Chris were both gr8 players, no doubt! I really miss how Chris Webber use to make that bull face in certain occasions in the game. He had such a gr8 sense of humor! And what I remember about Vlade was how he was such a gr8 passer. He always new where his teamates were at the right time. They may not have one an NBA title 4 the kings however they mean alot to me for bringing such a great and enertaining basketball game in Sacramento. In my eyes they are both true super stars & always will be..

  11. Darren on December 27th, 2008 7:48 am

the funniest thing about chris im not sure when it is..but when he was fouled he ran across the court sayin no no no no lol

  12. Tim K on December 27th, 2008 8:40 am

The days of Kings' magic, no doubt. Did the magic run out and is it gone? No. The spirit of Sacramento Kings will never die.

  13. Tim K on December 27th, 2008 8:41 am

Yes the commercials! lol those were simply amazing. We all remember Peja's shoe 'good feet' commercial as well.

  14. Travis on December 28th, 2008 9:00 am

i remember the old times when Vlade would do the so called "Vlade Flop". those were the good old times. One guy that deserves to b memorized GO VLADE

  15. Ryan on December 29th, 2008 4:43 am

Divac and webber are Two of the best former kings. I think the best is most definitely Mitch Richmond. One of the most underrated players ever. But that 2001-2002 seaon was magic man. Hoefully one day we'll make it back to the semi-finals. Even the playoffs would be a miracle at this point.

  16. Jason on December 29th, 2008 6:25 am

Never forget the Kings starting in '99. 2002 I still feel the pain of that shot from that man…that one shot changed the course of an entire Championship. Every single one of those players made it fun and entertaining. Whether your were a Kings fan or not, these 2 (along with the rest) put on the most entertaining games ever.

  17. amy on December 29th, 2008 7:57 am

my favorite memorie of vlade is the "vlade floops" and i liked his passing
the thing thart i remember about c web is that he could get the rebounds really well and i remember the faces that he made were preety funny
that was a fun team to watch play i liked the whole team was fun and exciting , and you had a guy like doug christie as the defense guy
thnks to the kings team of 2001 -2002 those were verry good times , but we will be back to that point again sometime :)

  18. AndrewNicholson on December 29th, 2008 11:33 am

Thank you for all the comments! Keep them coming.

  19. Sandy on December 30th, 2008 12:17 pm

My favorite memory of Vlade has to be the time a passed ball bounced off John Barry's nose … and the camera panned to the bench where Vlade and Peja were about to fall on the floor laughing. I still have the photo from the newspaper.

  20. Timmy Mac on December 31st, 2008 7:40 am

I used to get tickets in the "A" row by the Kings bench during the 2002 great season of play. I remember seeing Vlade get fouled under the bucket (I can't remember what team the Kings played) but the Ref didn't call the foul and Vlade got Super Pissed off at the no call by the Ref and Webber was trying to calm him down. I was thinking "Man" these guys (Vlade & the Kings) really take this seriously. I too enjoyed watching all of you Kings during the Vlade-Webber era. A tip of the hat and a "Well Done!!" You guys deserve to be recognized!!!!

  21. 4ever ur gurl! on January 1st, 2009 12:05 pm

awwwww…. those were the days from1998-2003! What an exciting team to watch under the leadership of Coach Adelman! The comebacks from being way behind, the amazing passes, the incredible chemistry among the players, the way you guys would make the crowd roar…Chris' sneers and smile……and w h a t a smile! .. all great memories. Chris and Vlade, along with the rest of the team, you ARE the reason I became a Kings fan.

  22. Guido 32 on January 2nd, 2009 2:10 am

I became a fan ever since the the play off series vs the la lakers. I live in holland and wasn't that well known with the nba until i got some tapes of that series. I fell in love with the kind of play that Sacramento Kings Played back than. I've been a kings fan ever since. I think Vlade is one of the greatest centers to ever played the game(but Brad Miller is also a great Center). And the passion of Chris is unbelieveble.

  23. Richard on January 4th, 2009 5:59 am

Being born in 85 I have been a Kings fan my whole life. We my get back to that competative level of play soon, but there wil never be another Webber-Vlade era. When Chris came here he brought the team into the NBA spotlight, but Vlade gave them their character. I will never forget how passionate they both were on and off the court. What I remember most about Vlade is how great of a teammate he was to all 11 guys on the bench. He would stand almost the whole time he wasnt on the floor and make his 3-point sign. Chris is pure charisma from his huge smile to his sneer running down the floor after a huge play. A huge thanks to you both for everything you did for the Kings and the whole Sacramento community.

  24. amy on January 6th, 2009 11:33 pm

    hey Richard

    i agree with you
and being born in 88 i have been a kings fan for a long time
when i would go to my grandma’s house when i was younger she would always have the game on T.V watching them play.
    yea i miss those guys
chris was very charismatic and vlade was a good mentor to his other team mates

chris helped put this team on the market

  25. Steve on January 8th, 2009 4:21 am

Those guys were ok, its too bad you dont live in San Antonio like me and get a chance to watch real basketball where we win titles and watch the best player to ever grace an NBA court.. TIm Duncan

  26. C23 on January 9th, 2009 12:40 pm

I remember when Vlade first opened tunnel 21. I was about 10?? pretty young, but I asked my brother if we could go but he said, NO!! so I watched the opening of the club on the news.. I love vlade, I was sad when he was traded,
as for webber, I miss him a lot too.! i still have some dada's layin around in my closet.. I was so happy for him to return back to his home in detroit, sacramento misses these two unforgettable players. I wish them both the very best, and I thank them for helping the kings to the WCF back in the days, now its the younger player's turn to show us what they got. =) go kings.!

  27. JS209 on January 11th, 2009 1:15 am

My favorite memory was when they traded for webber that summer of 98 i had mixed emotions about it because they traded my favorite player of all time mitch richmond at the time if any one was a real kings fan it was sad to see THE ROCK mitch richmond go it was a trade that turn this franchise into something like pop ICON every arena they went to they had half the stand pack with kings fan what a era in kings basketball i will never forget it even if they dont have another playoff apperance Thanks For the memory "Vlade and Chris"

  28. c-webb on January 11th, 2009 7:25 am

these guys deserve respect ,they made the kings and they should also be in the hall of fame(if not divac ,absolutely c=webb)

  29. JS209 on January 11th, 2009 12:57 pm

My favorite memory was when they finally beat the jazz to get over the hump to advance to the second round off the playoff webber had a MVP year but because he played in a small market he didnt get the award that year kings were the best team to not win a title that year 2000-2001 best team in franchise history.

  30. kings fan 4life on January 30th, 2009 7:50 pm

My favorite moment was when Chris played with the FAB 5 when he use to catch the lob pass, spin it from the block. That was me and my brother's favorite move. My mom is only one of many who can named all the Michigan Fab 5. Go Mom Go…. Jalon Rose, Juwan Howard, Jimmy King, Ray Jackson, and last but not least C-WEBB. Before you exit this message Chris, you have no time outs! Friendly reminder. Good luck with your future, I wish nothing but the best. My mom says you have a million dollar smile. Whose your dentist.

  32. Jamm B. on January 31st, 2009 4:05 am

I loved C-Webb. I've followed him his entire career and he is going to be missed. It would of been nice to see him leave out with a RING! To be honest I really didn't care for the Sacramento Kings until he came aboard. Good luck Chris with TNT as a sport commentator. I"ll definitely tune in.

  33. Normajean on January 31st, 2009 11:26 am

ABSOLUTELY! The Best Memory was for the City of Sacramento, when THE MALOOFS bought the team & restructured right away! The beginning years, amazingly awesome! Chris Webber….truly committed, as was Blah-dee-blah-dee Divac & the original "Dream Team Kings Players" that Joe, Gavin & Coach Adelman & Mister P. put together! Loved seeing them play live in Portland, Oregon! Blazers vs Kings…. WOW! What GAME! 1999–2002 so so ROCKED! I so believe that 2009, 2010 can only be THE BEST IS YET TO COME! Thanks for the Sparkle in Your Eyes On The Court! Now that was true Passionate Ball Playing! TEAM SPIRIT AT ITS BEST! Come and do an exhibition in Las Cruces, NM….In the new Booker T. Washington Elementary School Gym! Finally, after over 30 years, the kids have a "Real Gym"….Shoot hoop's; make the passes; right in front of students to give them hope! YOUR LEGACY IS JUST BEGINNING! BLESSINGS!

Vlade Divac, Chris Webber, Doug Christie, Mike Bibby, Peja Stojakovic, Hedo Turkolu, Bobby Jackson - The team that "almost" beat LA in the 2002 Western Championship Game 7. That was one of the best series I have seen in awhile. Did the referees favor the Lakers in Game 7? That is a tough call and disputed. Were the Kings and valiant contender in the NBA? Yes. There game was refreshing with Webber and Divac in the paint. Jackson and Christie on defense. Bibby, Turkolu, and Stojakovic roaming the three point zone. Yes. We were routing for the Kings that day. Could the Kings have gone on to win the NBA Title that year. I believe so. However, what we have are the memories. Maybe even Kobe Bryant, Shaquille O'Neal and his "Sacramento Queens" "I don't think they will ever have what it takes." comments, and yes, maybe even the Head Coach Phil Jackson remember Game 7. Maybe not. Who knows. The Kings played Basketball that day. Sacramento was on the National Sports Map. They made you believe in King's Basketball.
