Tyreke’s Blog: Reflecting on My First All-Star Weekend
February 17, 2010 by Tyreke Evans

My first All-Star Weekend was a good experience. I just wanted to go out there and have fun and not think about the game too much. It was good to get the MVP playing in my first Rookie game. It was a goal of mine, but more importantly I wanted us to get the win, so I’m happy we won.
Whether it’s on the Kings or the Rookie team, I just try to go out there and be a team player and have the best relationships I can with my teammates because without them there’s no me. I can’t go out there focused on myself. So every chance I get, I try to put the team first.
My brother Pooh, LaMont and Dwayne came down to Dallas with me. They watched me play and were happy with my performance and were glad we got the win. My other brothers couldn’t make it because of the weather back in Philly.
It was good to see a lot of NBA greats and All-Stars. They all pretty much said the same thing to me – ‘Keep playing the way you’re playing. You’re having a great season. Don’t stop working hard and keep doing what you’re doing.’ It’s a great thing to hear that from guys who have been in my position.
It was fun to play in the Shooting Stars challenge with C-Webb and Nicole. I was a little nervous at first and missed a shot or two, but then I chilled and was cool after I made my first shot. The half court shot looked easy when I was watching the other teams, but it was harder than it looked, and we couldn’t hit it fast enough.
Now I’m back in Sac, and my goal is to finish off the season strong, try not to get any injuries, keep fighting and try to get us more wins.
Keep supporting us and follow us wherever we go. It’s been a tough season for us but without fan’s support we wouldn’t have won as many games as we have. So come out to ARCO, and support the Kings!

Reke you made us proud back in Sac. Great performance. Omri too. You guys looked like you were having fun out there just like Arco. Thanks for sharing such great thoughts on teamwork. It's great for young kids to hear stuff like that from you guys who they look up to!
Us KINGS fans have a lot of hope with this young team we see playing. The team work unselfessness on shots. going to the one whos making the basket, the bench. I predict within 2 years ,the KINGS will be contenders. dont let Petriee mess up the chemestry you players are developing. Rome wasnt built in a night
For all the die hard fans who witness the game with the Celt's, it was a fighting game and the King's brought it to them. Missed free throws is the difference of the game and just want to emphasize that. This team i not like last seasons team thats been thrown like a rag. This new and "improved team" has been playing with a lot of heart and been fighting all season. So keep supporting and keep improving. We're all excited for the NEW And Improved King's team! Go Kings! From your die hard fan in Guam!!
awww you're super sweet tyreke! We're so proud of you here in Sac…words cannot express! Keep up the good work! You're a budding super-Duper star.
And I can't help but notice how quickly the NBA veteran stars accepted you into their elite *unspoken* secret club of very 'cool' and talented players. It's difficult to gain entrance into THAT club
You've gotta be a leader, have talent on the court, a killer instinct, swagger, and charisma. So far, you're the only King (from the current roster who's been added to the club, although Omri shows great potential to gain entrance next).
So proud of you!!!
XOXO
Nice game at all-star weekend, Tyreke. The trick underhand layup around two defenders was unbelievable. You showcased your talent while most importantly, being a team player.
You make the Kings organization and all of Sacramento proud.
Appreciate you Tyreke! Me and my boi Ricardo will be coming from Stockton to get your autograph next weekend!
CoolReke! Cool as a cucumber! Nails! You remind me of Joe Montana back in the day! Your composure is second to none. You are handling tough situations where most players, even veterans, loose it. Not Coolreke. Cool under fire is what the champs do! Coolreke for Pres!!!!
good job
