KINGS BATTLE THRU ADVERSITY TO WIN 3 OF LAST 4
Coach Paul Westphal has guided the Kings to three wins in the last four games despite a pair of significant injuries to key players Kevin Martin and Francisco Garcia. Sacramento defeated Memphis, 127-116, in the home opener on 11/2 for Westphal’s first win at the Kings helm. After a 113-105 setback versus Atlanta (11/4), the young Kings bounced back to post back-to-back victories at Utah (104-99) and against Golden State (120-107) on Saturday (11/7) and Sunday (11/8), respectively. With a win tonight versus Oklahoma City the Kings have a chance to climb back to the .500 mark for the first time since they were 8-8 during the 2006-07 campaign.
ROOKIE TYREKE EVANS IMPRESSIVE IN BACK-TO-BACK WINS
Rookie point guard Tyreke Evans was a primary factor in the Kings wins at Utah and versus the Warriors. The 6-6, 20-yeard-old Memphis product scored a career-high 32 points (7-15 FG, 2-3 3pt, 16-19 FT) to go with three rebounds, seven assists, and one steal at Utah. The win against the Jazz was Sacramento’s first in Salt Lake City since 12/15/06 (98-97). Less than 24 hours later he came back with a team-high 23 points (8-15 FG, 1-1 3pt, 6-7 FT), eight rebounds, two assists, and two steals in just 29 minutes in the home triumph over the Warriors. The combined 55 points is the most by a Kings rookie in back-to-back games since Walt Williams totaled 55 points in February of 1993.
JASON THOMPSON BECOMING NIGHTLY DOUBLE-DOUBLE THREAT
Second-year forward Jason Thompson is on his way to becoming a double-double threat every time he steps on the court. Averaging 12.3 ppg, 9.4 rpg, and 3.4 apg this season, Thompson has registered double-doubles in each of the past three games, highlighted by a 22-point, 12-rebound outing in the Atlanta game. Last season as a rookie out of Rider University, JT posted 17 point-rebound double-doubles, but appears poised to surpass that total early this year. He also has greatly improved other aspects of his game as well, dishing out five or more assists in three contests and blocking at least one shot in all seven games this season.
QUICK QUOTES
“The job that Paul Westphal has done the past two games has been great. They are playing great after losing one of their best players (Kevin Martin). They picked it up and played two sensational games back-to-back. They deserve an awful lot of credit.” — Golden State Head Coach Don Nelson

caspi where?
Here is a stat that should surprise all: Turnovers. A big deal last year, and much, MUCH better this year!
Right now, the Kings are 4th in the league in least amount of turnovers…only 13 game! Doing better than Boston, the Kobe's (I mean Lakers…), and so on.
Not to mention that the Kings are forcing turnovers as well, putting them at 5th in the league at the +/- ratio, with the opponents having 2 more turnovers per game than the Kings.
Assists…getting there. Most stats average, but the points +/-….not bad! The Kings are 18th in the league (far cry from last year) with a -2 points per game ratio. Again, not bad!
THE KINGS ARE DOING A GOOD JOB ON DEFENSIVE.JASON IS DOING A BETTER JOB FINISHING AT THE BASKETBALL BUT NEED TO LEARN HOW TO GO STRONG WITH ATHUORITY!
SPENCER IS DOING A GOOD JOB AIN DEFENDING THE BASKET KEEP CAUSE WE NEED IT. LIKE THE DEFENSIVE PLAYS THE KINGS WERE DOING EVERYBODY IS ON THE BORADS.
KEEP IT UP KINGS YALL ON YOUR WAY.
