Hi Gavin, Im a big kings fan and was wondering do we have enough cap space to go out and get a big name player next year?

  2. kingsfan on September 22nd, 2009 6:46 pm

What kind of an impact will Desmond Mason have on the younger players?

  3. Jaylee209 on September 22nd, 2009 7:08 pm

Hey Gavin, what ever happened to the reality show "Rebuilding the Kingdom", you guys were planning on? I really think it will give the Kings and Sacramento much more exposure…and hopefully more media coverage and games on national tv.

  4. Lisa Derrweather on September 22nd, 2009 8:11 pm

Hello, Gavin. First, I'd like to ask how Joe is doing? I know he's was having a tough time last year and wondered if he's 100% now?
Secondly, this team is missing a "star" which in most cases, draws extra fans to the games. Is the Kings organization in agreement with this statement and if so, are you looking?

  5. Stevie Gee on September 22nd, 2009 9:02 pm

Like you gavin,i'm sick of all th negatives.I love the direction of the franchise, also I believe you intend to keep the team here in sacto.Your words to me seem genuine. .In your opinion what will it take to get that ARCO THUNDER back?

  6. Jay on September 22nd, 2009 9:02 pm

Hey Gavin! It's obvious the team is still under the salary cap for this season, is it out of the question to think that this could cap room could be used at mid-season along with some of the young talent on the team in a trade for a "star" player that might be unhappy in their current situation?

  7. ebooker on September 22nd, 2009 9:03 pm

    Gavin.

In real-life, how similar are you and brother Joe to The Beaver Boys? Are your favorite foods shrimp & white wine, as well?..

  8. Gillian Rose on September 22nd, 2009 9:34 pm

    Hi Gavin,

Just wanted to give you a shout out!

  9. guest on September 22nd, 2009 9:51 pm

Gavin, I hope this note finds you well. With the economy in the tank I imagine most NBA franchises are seeing a drop in season ticket holders. So far how is this season looking in Sacto? Are we seeing any signs of a reverse from last years low attendance trend? When might we hear something about progress at the Cal Expo site? Is the issue dead or just another casualty of the economy and moving along very slowly?

  10. hawesfan on September 22nd, 2009 10:07 pm

Hey Gavin, i love the Kings I really do, im a huge hawes fan and a jt fan. But why on earth are we continuing to sign players with a bad history if injury problems are other role players. To me that sounds like wasting cap room. If you want to be NBA champs or even being takin seriously as a serious playoff team you need a star player to lead. Kmart is not the answer, im sorry but hes not, i like the guy alot but he had a chance to help lead the team last year and i was at every home game last year to see how that worked out. ive been hearing the fans asking this question for awhile, when will the Kings organization listen?

  11. Ed Zuchelli on September 22nd, 2009 10:41 pm

    Gavin,

What do you think it will take to get rid of the negative opinions of the team from a PR stand point (besides winning more games)? For instance, how people view the city, the fans, etc.

P.S. Good job on being a leader for sports teams and the new media, I enjoy being this informed about the team.

    Thanks!

  13. Dylan on September 23rd, 2009 12:25 am

Hi Gavin, I was wondering how important do you think the 2010 free agency is for our kings? Do you see any good or big signings, or just some small little adjustments like this year?

  14. Nalyd on September 23rd, 2009 12:26 am

Gavin, what do you think is a goal for your kings this year? And can we expect kings to stay in sacramento for a good amount of years? KINGS need to stay, they are all I live for, GO KINGS.

  15. Robert montes on September 23rd, 2009 2:21 am

Hi Garvin, i am from Puerto Rico mega fan of the kings and I have a concern in which we only have a man of 7-foot that harms us in western conference? Peter John Ramon from PR 7'3 and free agent NBA ready 24 years need chek that ,and Sergio Rodriguez, beno and tere with k-mart who's the really PG to Cluth The Game Bobby? stay cool this is just my concern.

  16. Wman on September 23rd, 2009 2:35 am

I am a 10 year old kings fan and i was wondering, will Bobby Jackson play for us this year?

    Thanks ,

  17. Nader on September 23rd, 2009 2:52 am

We need a back up Center. Why don't you look at 7' 2" Hamed Haddadi Center of MEMPHIS GRIZZLIES. You can buy his contract cheap. He won Asian Championship for Iran. He is sitting on the beanch of MEMPHIS GRIZZLIES with no playing time. All he needs is a good coach so he can be a great asset for Kings.

  18. Hong Kong SUPER Fans on September 23rd, 2009 4:58 am

Hi, last time, I raised a question to the coach, but he did not reply me, so i hope this time u can reply me. (Or tell my recommendation to the Coach)

I have nth to ask, but a few recommendations.
    1) put K-mart to 6th man (like Manu) (I think he is more effective when acts as 6th man)
    2) More chance for Rookies (Casspi, Evans)…and Sergio
    3) less mintues for Cisco (his ball-handling is BAD)
    4) All kings players need more ball movement !!

  19. Dusan on September 23rd, 2009 11:49 am

Hi Gavin, I'm from Serbia and I'm a big Kings fan since golden era, I still believe that Kings are coming back to playoffs very soon! Which player, in your opinion, is going to make the biggest impact to the team this year? I know that you think the team is most important, but which player do you expect to stand up and do the big stuff?

P.S. I'm sorry if I made a mistake, my English is not very well, Greetings from Serbia!!!

  20. king patrick on September 23rd, 2009 1:44 pm

hi gavin good to talk to you. But my question to you is do you think we can make our home opener like a playoff game like the glory days where we passed out white tshirts to us fans? while we enter the arena? that would be awsome for our home opener. lets show tyreke, omri, and jon brockman how arco is really like for there first home game. thanks gavin your the best! GO KINGS 4life!!!!!!!!

  21. John on September 23rd, 2009 9:24 pm

    Hey Gavin,

As a fan, it is some what frustrating not to hear anything on the progress, or lack there of, on the deal for a new arena at Cal Expo. I understand deals are complex but lack of conversation until something like the NCAA pulling out of Arco arena is not sufficient. I hate to think it, but with out information, our fate seems to be that of Seattle.
    John

  22. Ben on September 24th, 2009 1:55 pm

    From Spain, Gavin!

Will we see this year any more jersey retired in the ARCO?

  23. Cherie on September 24th, 2009 2:53 pm

    Hello Gavin!

How do you and Gavin not go crazy when people talk rumors about the team leaving or how the team is gonna underachieve again or whether the GM is doing his job effectively or just sitting on his hands while FA's go by?

    Sincerely
    A Kings fan in NY!

  24. bajaden on September 24th, 2009 5:14 pm

Hola Gavin from baja mexico. First, I want to thank you and your family for all the great things you've done in sacramento. From charities to improving the team and almost bringing a championship to the city. At the moment there are a lot of lingering questions about the team. From the non-contract of Geoff Petrie to the lack of a deal on the new arena. How do these things affect you and your brother Joe? I'm also curious what your day is like. How much of it is dedicated to the team and how much is dedicated to other business activities? Lastly, if Cal Expo is plan A, is there a plan B?

  25. John on September 24th, 2009 10:35 pm

Some effort should be given to acknowledging (a real small way is fine) the original and continuing season ticket holders that have stayed with the Kings for the whole 25 years. Was told that your records weren't good enough to pin-point this, but some effort should be made to do it. It would be a good P.R. move on your part………………….

  26. Ray Fong on September 24th, 2009 11:48 pm

Hello Gavin, I adjusted my work hours so I could become a 10 year season ticket holder and long time fans since day one. First thing first, we need a new arena. If we build the arena, fans will come. Then we can work on getting a big name player. The team has to make commitment to stay first. Wether at the cal expo or railyard, it doesn't matter. But I prefer the railyard personally because it is more visible next to the freeway and with all the hotels around. I wish all the politicians in the city and county would open their eyes and look at the future. The KINGS put sacramento on the world map. Keep up the good work and say hi to Joe.
    Ray

  27. Nick on September 25th, 2009 1:10 am

Hi Gavin, It's nice to talk and meet you. I'm a super big Kings fan and I'm looking forward to the upcoming season. The question I have for you is are the Kings going to be moving any time soon and are we going to be signing any players from the D-league or are we going to sign any players?

I'm looking forward to you guys winning and watching you guys on T.V. Good luck with everything and tell your brother good luck also. Go Kings!!!!!!!!

  28. kelly on September 25th, 2009 5:34 pm

Hi Gavin, I am wondering why you have the same prices for Pre Season games as the actual games? Seems to me that you would want people to try out the Kings before the actual Season begins. I love the Kings but the tickets are very expensive especially in these economic times. It seems to me if you lowered prices you would fill your seats… :)

  29. bugaboo on September 26th, 2009 7:22 pm

Why don't you use the money spent on sending dancers all over the world to do some good for the team? What's important here?

  30. LIsa on September 27th, 2009 9:15 pm

will you please consider moving the team to LV if AEG builds the arena they have planned? smoochie smoochie.

  31. John on September 29th, 2009 7:35 pm

    Hey Galvin,

I am a Sacramento native and life long fan (20 years to be exact). First and foremost, I just want to thank you and your family for all the great years, the ups and downs, the ebbs and flows, all of it has been worthwhile. I am currently in my third year at UC Berkeley and my dream is to one day be a G.M and to work in a basketball team organization. I know this may not be the ideal forum, but I am curious what it would take to get an internship with the Sacramento Kings. Thank you for your time. Good luck and Go Kings!!!

  32. chase on October 1st, 2009 12:14 am

Ive been hearing alot lately about attempts to move the Kings to Las Vegas?
    what's that about?

  33. gavinmaloof on October 1st, 2009 11:15 pm

We continue to work under the guidance of the NBA on finding a solution to the arena situation here in Sacramento and remain positive and optimistic that something can be worked out. One aspect that is extremely helpful is that Mayor Kevin Johnson is very engaged in the process and really wants to find a solution. As far as ticket sales, we are working harder than ever to
retain our season ticket base and cultivate new fans. We have introduced a number of new ticket packages and pricing plans to make it more convenient for our fan base to experience the excitement at ARCO Arena.

  34. gavinmaloof on October 1st, 2009 11:15 pm

Jay-We have been working to create some cap space the past couple years in hopes that we can utilize that flexibility to add a significant player or two to our roster. Geoff Petrie is one of the most experienced and successful GMs in the NBA and we are confident he will find options in the near future that can make an impact within our organization. In the present, we are extremely
pleased with the work that Paul Westphal and his staff have done to develop our young core. We feel there is some star potential already on our roster.

  35. gavinmaloof on October 1st, 2009 11:16 pm

Hi Jaylee-We have been shopping the Rebuilding The Kingdom show concept to some networks. We are hopeful we can get something done because we feel there are some terrific storylines with our players, coaching staff and organization. We feel the national exposure is a terrific thing for the organization and the Sacramento Region.

  36. gavinmaloof on October 1st, 2009 11:17 pm

Ed-I think the fans will really enjoy watching our team play under Coach Westphal. We are so impressed by he and his staff here in Training Camp. I am 100% confident that our guys will play hard night in and night out. Also, our players very personable and love to interact with the fans. This is a group of players and coaches that want to be here in Sacramento and want to
engage with the fans. That is very important in creating great PR.

  37. gavinmaloof on October 1st, 2009 11:18 pm

Hi John-We implemented the Legends program this year for season ticket holders of 10 years or more, which is basically the time we have owned the team. We kicked it off with a wonderful dinner event this summer with Coach Westphal that received very positive reviews. Our season ticket holders are our most important asset and we are looking for new and innovative ways to enhance their experience.

  38. Jon Luz on October 2nd, 2009 12:26 am

How about this idea of maybe getting the new arena done. Instead of calling it an arena, why not call it an "Entertainment and Sports Complex". This will help eliviate everyone call just the Kings/Monarchs arena. We all know it going to be use for not just games our home teams but for every major event out there that not help your family but our city and surrounding suburbs. I'm glad we have Coach Westphal coaching a up and coming young team. I see what Geoff Petrie is now doing and getting Tyreke instead of all hype Ricky Rubio was the smartest move. I'll deffinitely be watching and attending a few games this year. GO KINGS!!!!!

  39. GO KINGS! on October 2nd, 2009 12:57 am

Hey Gavin. Im a dieing hard kings fan. I been a kings fan since when i was born. Are the kings gonna stay in Sacramento? Well no one wants them to leave. I mean they been in Sacramento like forever. The fans would hate it to see our kings move away. Please Gavin whatever you do DONT make the kings move out of Sacramento. Stay in Sacramento.

  40. Brad on October 2nd, 2009 2:29 am

    Hi Gavin,
Thanks for the golden years when we actually put effort into putting together a quality product. You might as well just move the team now because it is obvious that after the new stadium was declined we decided to dismantle the team and make us the laughing stock of the league once again. Either make the decision to get some talent on this team or sell the team. The problem with the attendance isnt the economy, it is the bull@#$% product we put on the floor.

  41. Rory on October 2nd, 2009 2:47 am

    Hello Gavin,
I am excited about the new season and I know things will be better than last year. This year, there is good reason for optimism. You have more good rookie talent alongside the young talent you have already, you have an experienced, bonafide, above averagewinning coach in Westphal. I went to the draft night at Arco Arena and am very glad you picked Tyreke and did not go for the hype in Rubio. I went to the Palms and ate at the Bistro Buffet. Very nice and fancy. Your organization is first class, you have one of the best GM's in Petrie, and I think we'll see dividends with the Kings very soon. Thank you.

  42. Mark on October 2nd, 2009 8:07 am

Ok, I have been a Kings fan since 1985. I have been there through the good and bad years. However, what I saw last year made me sick. You traded all the good players we had for players that were still learning. How could you trade our vet's for rookies? You and your brother need to prove to our city that you care about this team and bring us a championship. This is our team, so spend the money on some players that will make our team a contender. Here's my question Gavin. If you don't get your deal your asking the city will you take our kings away? Remember, we own the rights to the team when Jim Davis asked for help from the city counsel and in that 80 million dollar deal Jim gave the city half of the kings rights. They are our team!!!!! I want to see real effort from both of you. We (the kings fans) deserve the right to see our team go beyond any limit they can. Use your money and bring us some players that will make the Kings great again. We all know that you have the money.

  43. Anne on October 3rd, 2009 7:11 pm

Will the Kings games be televised on Comcast the year?

  44. Chris on October 4th, 2009 5:02 pm

Are you planning to bring back the black and purple jerseys soon. Maybe as a 3rd alternate jersey. I am not really superstitious but the last time the kings made it far into the play offs was in there black jerseys.

  45. uhhggg on October 4th, 2009 10:06 pm

will you just sell this team already so the fans of sacramento can get the team ownership that warrants such a loyal fanbase

  46. Brian on October 5th, 2009 8:37 am

Y do you blow money on stupid stuff like the "Maloof Money Cup" when you don't spend a dime on a new arena?

  47. The new Red Auerbach on October 5th, 2009 9:36 pm

    Mr. Maloof:

One question if you want to win then, why don't you have more African American players in your key positions? (i.e. center, point guard, power forward) Even the Celtics realized that if you want to win in the NBA, you've got to go with the talent, and the 'talent" is unquestionably inherent in the African American basket ball player. The Euros aren't bad but, if you want to win…get more Black players on your team…period!

  48. Brad on October 6th, 2009 5:28 am

Is Daniel Snyder your idol??? You run an organization about as well as he does.

  49. Brad on October 6th, 2009 5:34 am

The kings put sacramento on the world map? C-Bo put sacramento on the map about as much as the kings. Its the capital dumbass.

  50. R Young on October 7th, 2009 12:14 am

I am a long time fan of the Sacramento Kings and I believe that not having television coverage of the kings will have a catostrophic effect on the kings fans and will ultimately break the back of the Kings franchise. The Kings fans depend on television to keep their interest in t a team that is struggling. If you take that away from the fans they will eventually loose interest in the Kings. Perhaps the Maloofs need to sell the Team so that we can hopefully get this team back on track.

  51. Tyler on October 11th, 2009 6:00 am

Gavin, come on man. Look, i do like the kings and all and im still sticking with them even though they were the worst team in the NBA. But whats the deal with giving every one up for a bunch of low name rookies with the exception of evans. This team needs a star to lead the team and bring in the crowd a bit more. Martin is not gonna do it, hes just not consistent and hes not the star type. hes more of a 6th man or a 2nd option instead of first. When are you gonna focus on getting this team to the playoffs instead of trying to develop every year? Rookies need stars and veterans to play with before they will develop from the learning experience. Please fix this team!

  52. N.S. Ugezene on October 11th, 2009 9:41 am

I have been a Kings fan for the absolute longest. What I questioning is the fact that we don't have a tall Chinese player like a Ha Seung-Jin or a Jilian Yi. I would like to see one of those on the team that could shoot outside. Andres Nocioni is a good player but I don't feel he fits the team. Spencer Hawes is key and so is Jason Thompson. Hopefully, they both start to give the twin tower effect. Then Tyreke can play the three, Kevin the two and Beno at point. That should be the starting lineup.

    C Jason Thompson
    PF Spencer Hawes
    SF Tyreke Evans
    SG Kevin Martin
    PG Beno Udrih

That should be the starting five. Gavin, please see if you can make that happen.

  53. disapointed fan on October 12th, 2009 12:55 am

    Maloofs ,

Is the team planning on trading kenny thomas who is making over 9 mill , who has been sitting on the bench ?

I use to be a big kings fan , until all the trades that gave away our favorite players , with maybe some cap room in trade , that send rick adleman away , I understand why the trades happened because of cap room , but i know we could have made better deals . And we should have kept mike bibby , having beno try to replace him , was just a bad idea . Also trading ron artest , was a mistake , we fell apart on defense and took more star power from a needing team . I see little changes being made , when is there going to be a block buster trade , like when we got webber ? or sign a free agent that well turn everything around ?

  54. GoodLuckChuck on October 12th, 2009 11:52 pm

Hey Kings Fans - Anything that comes from "Joe & Gavin" actually is from the PR person Mitch Germann and staff. Joe & Gavin will never read your comments on here… Good luck with that…

  55. DP1973 on October 13th, 2009 11:12 am

We need the ability to create from all 5 positions… If the guys we have are those kind of guys then we have a future…. We need someone commited to lock down a Kobe, a Chris Paul, a Darren Williams makes me sick to watch those guys come to Arco and drop stupid stats on us. The thing that made the glory day Kings so great was the fact that we could run the offfense through any person in the offense, we had great passing big men… If Spencer and Jason can do better to create off the dribble, not just score which they have proven, we will do great things!

Will Kings games be on CSCA TV this year

  60. Lanme on October 15th, 2009 6:42 am

Can the Kings please try getting new uniforms just one more time? Maybe even go back to the look from when we were good? These new ones, the home uniforms especially, are terrible. They're hands-down the worst in the NBA. And can the Kings please get rid of both the guys from Washington and Sean May? Thanks! I look forward to buying merchandise again and being a fan!

  61. Joe on October 16th, 2009 12:15 pm

Since the Sacramento Kings will not be on local TV this year (for whatever reason) do you think that the Sacramento loyal fans for years who can not afford to go to games will loose support for the Kings? Can the Kings give back to Sacramento by getting on TV?

  68. Jonathan Gonzalez on November 21st, 2009 3:22 am

Hey GM iv been a kings fan since the days of the almost dynasty(thanks lakers lol). Right now we seem to building this team with first rounders like the Atlanta hawks but lack a big shot player, dont get me wrong i see a future all-star/league MVP in K-mart and Evans but most fans what winners now not next your you know, is there a star u might go after this year and/or the big 2010 free agency. PS Allen Iverson would be a good pickup the young guns will learn from him on the court—-just keep em away off the court lol—-

  69. kingsvsLA2001 on December 26th, 2009 3:28 am

    Hello Gavin!

Belated happy holidays. I hope this New year brings you and your family continued success! Back in New Mexico quite a few years back , Joe and Coors Light sponsored my band and I thought you guys might get a kick out of seeing some old footage of some concerts we did for the Maloof family and Coors benefits / charities. I'm glad to see that Joe still likes his rock music! I'm currently pursuing my first love (blues) and so no more rock (at least not at this moment) , but I have won some awards for best rock / metal song, Best Blues Song (two years) and nominated for Best Blues and for best instrumental recently. Anyway, give my best to Joe and all your family and tell them I truly appreciate the help and support your family provided those 20 + years ago. ! I hope you enjoy the videos and visit my Myspace sites to hear all the Angel Edge music as well as my blues tunes. If you guys want some close to DVD quality (not like on the myspace videos) and some Angel Edge CD's let me know where to send them to. You can email me at bluzman1@wakeupandsmelltheblues.com

    Mr Maloof,
Any chance of some assistance for the 2nd largest military basketball tournament held right here in Las Vegas? Going on its 6th year, and looking to bring more excitement for the men and women of the Armed Forces. Thank You
