Casspi Stops to Shop
June 29, 2009 by Andrew Nicholson

After becoming the first Israeli player selected in the first round of the NBA Draft when the Sacramento Kings drafted him with the 23rd overall pick on June 25, Omri Casspi spoke emotionally and glowingly about what the feat meant to him, his family and country.
Now, a few days removed from his Tel Aviv post-Draft press conference that received national attention in Israel and his introduction to Kings fans in Sacramento, Casspi found time to stop by ARCO Arena.
Like many Kings draftees before him, Casspi wasn’t there to hit the hardwood, he was at the Sacramento Team Store, purchasing Kings and Monarchs paraphernalia for friends, family and himself.
While fellow Sacramento Kings draftees Tyreke Evans and Jon Brockman have returned to their U.S. hometowns in preparation for the team’s mini camp in Las Vegas, which tips off on July 8, Casspi remains in Sacramento some 7,500 miles from his hometown.
