Pre-Draft Circus

Hey Kings fans!
It’s been a great day here in New York City! I have to admit, the time change has been a little blip on my radar. I tried to get up at 8:30 a.m., and kept hitting snooze until 9 a.m., considering I was up at 4 a.m. West Coast time yesterday, I think I deserved to sleep in until 6 a.m. this morning!
I had breakfast with Jeff, our videographer, at Shula’s Steakhouse this morning. We saw Bob Costas a couple tables away, and I tried to enjoy my $19 eggs benedict! It was yummy but took my money for breakfast and lunch in one sitting!
Jeff and I walked the 12 blocks to Madison Square Garden to pick up media credentials for our media availability group. By the way, nothing here is labeled, and everyone assumes you know where you’re going. After circling the block we came back to where we started, which, had there been a sign saying “NBA Credentials,” would have saved me the comments of construction workers who apparently are not busy enough!
The media availability here at the Westin Times Square was a circus — two groups of potential draftees in 30 minute segments with media outlets from around the world doesn’t make for a carefree experience. But, I got to talk to a lot of guys including Blake Griffin, Tyreke Evans, Jrue Holiday, Jonny Flynn, Terrance Williams, DaMar DeRozan, Brandon Jennings, Stephen Curry, Ricky Rubio… the list goes on and on. It’s safe to say they are all just as excited as you are to know where they will all be by end of day tomorrow. The crazy thing is, with all the trades that have taken place and are in the works, we may not really know who will be where right up until the Draft ends!
You have to love the anticipation! Join me tomorrow for the 2009 NBA Draft from Madison Square Garden. Who will the Kings draft at number four? Will they have a new point guard, forward, center? We shall see but in the mean time, keep following me on Twitter.com/kayte_c.
