The Sacramento Kings hosted their 13th pre-Draft workout at the team’s practice facility on Monday. The players included Sam Young (Pittsburgh), Derrick Brown (Xavier) who showcased his talent for the second time in Sacramento, Gordon Watt (Houston Baptist), Lawrence Hill (Stanford), Ryan Toolson (Utah Valley State) and Keith Clark (Tulsa 76rers).

Afterward, Young addressed the media. Stay current with Kings.com Draft Central for complete video coverage, including quotes and workout footage.

Young

On how the workout went:
“It went really good, really intense, pretty short though — short and sweet. I think I did a pretty good job. I shot the ball well, showcased a lot of my skills and Coach (Westphal) did a good job of letting us (run).”

On what skill set he would bring to an NBA team:

“Toughness, bringing the ball up off the dribble, shooting the ball, my maturity level and just knowing the game, things like that.”

On his age (24):

“A lot of guys see it as a disadvantage but I see it as a big advantage because of my maturity level. I believe I have a lot to bring to a team as far as my athletic ability, my toughness and just being around the game longer than most guys at my level.”

On attending prep school at Hargrave Military Academy in between high school and college:

“(I learned) discipline — lots and lots of discipline. It was a crazy experience. I’m glad I went through it but I don’t think I would go through it again. It taught me a lot, and just made me patient and a more disciplined guy.”

On what separates him from other forward prospects:
“My toughness and my skill set. A lot of guys have one or the other but I can bring both to the table. I’m very athletic for my size so that helps a lot. I believe each year I’ve played I’ve progressed, my game’s gotten better and better. A lot of guys have hype early and they maintain their ability but my ability just keeps getting better and better.”

On how he’d fit in with the Kings:
“Coach does a great job of presenting your skills and (allows you to) showcase what you got. I think I’m a hard worker and I’m going to get better and better at ball handling and shooting. I think the Kings would definitely be a good fit where I could come in and showcase my hard work.”

Kings will regret not considering or taking Jennings…I have no doubt Jennings is the Chris Paul of this draft. All these teams who are passing on him, give him all the motivation in the world to prove them wrong. It's one thing when a prospect feels like he was suppose to go high and then bust, because he had that opportunity giving to him without working for it. Jennings should go high, but won't, and he's going to get rid of this notion that he can't play. Whoever we pick, I'm sure will be good but in like 2 years, during which time Jennings is going to probably be a star, making our draftee hard to live with. I have doubts about Jennings to, like his shakey shot, but I don't doubt his star power and ability to play. Draft day was exciting, until the Kings overlooked obvious potential.
