Evans Workout Wrap
June 9, 2009 by Andrew Nicholson

The Sacramento Kings hosted their sixth pre-Draft workout at the team’s practice facility on Tuesday. Unlike the previous group workouts, former Memphis guard Tyreke Evans was the lone participant.
Leading up to his workout with the Kings, Evans has been preparing for the pre-Draft process with former NBA guard B. J. Armstrong in Santa Monica, Calif.
After his first team workout, Evans characterized his game, why he’d like to play in Sacramento and much more. Stay current with Kings.com Draft Central for complete video coverage, including Evans quotes, highlights and workout footage.
Following are notable quotes from Evans:
On having an individual workout:
“It’s pretty tough. You have to catch your breath and at the same time you’re learning. It went pretty good working out there by myself. I was just trying to go hard.”
On what he’s trying to show NBA teams during workouts:
“Just my size and ability to handle the ball and making shots too. I’m getting better with my jump shot. I’m just working more and more every day trying to get better.”
On playing point or shooting guard in the League:
“I get that question asked a lot. I pretty much don’t know that myself. I think I’m a one 1-2 point, a player you can put the ball in my hands, and I’ll make things happen.”
On what sets him apart from other comparable players in the Draft:
“I can play both positions — my ability to play the one and two — and my size and ability to handle the ball.”
On improving his shooting ability:
“When I did a lot of interviews in Chicago, the number one thing they were telling me to work on was my shooting. A lot of teams I’m going to work out with, so I’m going to show that I can shoot the ball. I think I did a pretty good job today… I’ve gotten better. When I go in the gym I want to make sure they know I can shoot the ball.”
On a comparable NBA player:
“Pretty much, I’m a Brandon Roy-type player. I play both positions, bring the ball up and come off the wing.”
On preference for what team drafts him:
“I’d like to be here. Sacramento is a nice place. But, wherever I end up, I’ll be happy, because of my love for the game. I think it’s just a good fit. A backcourt with me and (Kevin) Martin, two big guards, I just like the opportunity here. If I land here, I land here. If not, I’ll go somewhere else and be happy with that too.”
On proximity of making NBA dream reality:
“I don’t really feel it yet. My family feels it more than me. It hasn’t hit me yet. I know that it’s around the corner. I’m just working out so when the Draft comes, hopefully my dream comes true.”
On his relationship with Kings forwards Jason Thompson and Donté Greene:
“Jason Thompson and Donté Greene are good friends (of mine).”
