forget the # 31 pick.. i say package both 23 and 31 and maybe throw in hawes to move up in the draft…

  2. mattj916 on May 24th, 2009 9:46 am

The Kings know they need Rubio and are going to have to package the No.4 overall pick, Kenny Thomas' expiring contract and the No.23 overall they got in the Artest deal to Memphis (unless they decide they really like Thabeet) or most likely, Oklahoma City. This would help OKC a lot financially, will give GM Sam Presti even more picks to stockpile and the Kings' can get their franchise Point Guard in the process.
    GO KINGS

  3. the man on May 24th, 2009 5:37 pm

dude spencer is alrite, hes not that good. Spencer needs to step up his game. kings dont really need rubio, brandon jennings well be a better pick in stead of him or holiday.

  4. mr.t on May 24th, 2009 6:47 pm

come on kings choose brandon jennings. brandon jennings will attract more people than jrue holiday. plus Holiday ant got Sh**t compare to jennings. Brandon jenning i think is way better than rubio.

  5. PURPLE PASSION on May 25th, 2009 12:10 am

WITH THE # 4 PICK THE SACRAMENTO KINGS SELECT BRANDON JENNINGS BABY!!!!!!!!!!! THEN PACKAGE THE 24 AND THE 31ST FOR SOMEWHERE IN THE 13-20 AND TRY TO ACQUIRE DEJUAN BLAIR

  6. Cesar on May 25th, 2009 2:07 am

Brandon Jennings is all potential. He may seem better than Rubio but he is also the one guy in this draft who could be a bust. He barely played in Europe and Rubio is more proven. We should take the best available player (regardless of position) with the #4 pick and then trade our 23rd and 31st picks to somewhere in the late lottery to pick up one of three good point guards who should be in that range [Jrue Holiday (UCLA), Johnny Flynn (Syracuse), Ty Lawson (UNC)].

  7. Cesar on May 25th, 2009 2:10 am

Agreed on trading the 23rd and 31st picks, but trading Hawes is too much. The only players in my opinion that we could and should trade are Andres Nocioni (only if the deal is right) and Kenny Thomas. (I want to give Beno one more season before i think we should trade him).

  8. Brandon198 on May 25th, 2009 3:53 am

The KINGS Need to get the BPA and if he does not meet the kings needs. then Shop the #4 Pick if need be.. besides drue had a good workout with sac .. Get rubio!!! we dont need a scorer from the point we need a leader and a Passer regardless of who it is weather it's jennings holiday or rubio they need the BPA!!!!!

  9. 10KingsFan10 on May 25th, 2009 4:04 am

I would say you have your priorities backwards, Cesar. Beno Udrih, although is decent on the offensive end and started to heat up near the end of the season, cannot stay in front of his man on defense. Nocioni is a huge defensive boost at small forward and can guard LeBron well, which tells something. Our small forward spot if perfectly tone with Nocioni and Garcia- a shooter and defender.

If we trade anyone, it would be Beno Udrih, Kenny Thomas, maybe Rashad McCants if we can resign him, and maybe Ike Diogu- the last two are stretches. Trading isn't a priority- first we need players to trade, as we don't have many players that catch the eyes of other teams AND that we want to trade. Martin stays along with Hawes, Garcia, and Nocioni- those are the only sure ones. Thompson is a 99% sure. After that, it's a free guess. However, Nocioni should not can not and definitely will not be traded, but Beno most likely will.

  11. Sean on May 25th, 2009 7:56 am

I agree. The kings need to get back the good pick and roll offense that they used to have in 2001. Jennings is an amazing passer and is a play maker/finisher. In my opinion, he is much better than Rubio.

  12. bonez on May 25th, 2009 9:37 am

i think the kings should get either brandon jennings or jrue holiday with the 4th pick…i believe they are more athletic and skilled then rubio and they have better size. We need defense and i dont believe rubio will bring that. I also think they should trade up with the 23rd pick and spencer hawes and try to get someone like demar derozan..he's one of those explosive players that can do big things for the kings

  13. sergio on May 25th, 2009 12:15 pm

I´m spanish and kings fan, and I can assure everybody Rubio is much more better defender than other american young guy into draft. He is a leader from the first minute and older players take care of his instructions. If we have any chance to select him, all of us will be happy for many years

  14. Pol on May 25th, 2009 4:27 pm

To all of those ignorant youtube viewers judgers, no disrespect whatsoever, but please stop requesting bad PGs. I´ve seen Holiday, Jennings and Flynn, they have amazing things on their game but does someone really think they are true Franchise PGs, cmon do you think Petrie is Stupid!!!
When he said in the press conference that the #1 is Ricky Rubio and he is ready to run the team. The most important thing on a PG is IQ look at the best of NBA (D.Williams and C. Billups) and in this matter no one can even be compared to RR.

  15. Cesar on May 25th, 2009 4:46 pm

I agree that it is easier to shop Beno than Nocioni due to Nocioni's defense. (I will disagree with him being able to stay in front of LeBron though, but that's just my opinion). I also meant to put that the deal for Noc' had to be really sweet or just keep him. If we re-sign McCants and Diogu I think the same applies, don't trade them unless the deal is good enough.

  16. vic on May 25th, 2009 4:53 pm

Dude brandon jennings wont be a bust. the bust is going to be thabeet. the kings do have a chance that rubio will falls into 4th beucase those teams dont really need a point guard or the kings can make trade with thunders to swap picks if rubio falls to 3rd. but brandon jennings is still the man, he is almost as good as john wall. And yes the kings should trade thier 24th, 31st pick and a player or two(Beno, Mccant, Greene, Diogu, Spencer or Gracia) to try and pick up bealsy from mami.

  17. TheGovernator on May 25th, 2009 5:43 pm

IMO Stephen Curry is the second best player in this class followed by Brandon Jennings. Ricky Rubio is still at number 1 on my board. Then you have Blake Griffin at 4 and Hasheem Thabeet at 5. 6 is Tyreke Evans, 7 is James Harden, 8 is Jordan Hill, 9 is Jrue Holliday and 10 is Eric Maynor. Honorable mentions are Earl Clark, Terrence WIlliams, Ty Lawson, and Johnny Flynn. Jeff Teague, Wayne Ellington, and Gerald Henderson are one step down from that group. And then you have your busts being Dejuan Blair, James Johnson, Demar Derozan. Just my humble opinion.

  18. TheGovernator on May 25th, 2009 5:50 pm

I mean Rubio is all ready a star in Spain and throughout Europe. He has also already earned the respect of the American "redeem" team in the olympics. This kid is proven himself on every level but the NBA, and he is only 19 years old.

  19. TheGovernator on May 25th, 2009 5:52 pm

    I mean 18 years old….

  20. Pol on May 25th, 2009 5:57 pm

Totalmente de acuerdo contigo a ver si empujamos a Ricky a que se vaya a una buena Franquicia y no a los Chungi Grizzlies.

  21. TheGovernator on May 25th, 2009 6:21 pm

This class is actually not as bad as everyone keeps saying it is. Maybe it is not as top heavy as the 2003 class, but it is actually pretty deep. Check out this link:
    http://www.draftexpress.com/nba-mock-draft/2009/
I know alot of these guys as college stars.

  22. Donald on May 25th, 2009 7:37 pm

Am I the only Kings fan that realizes that the kings should draft stephen curry. I hope that curry impresses in his workout and he moves up and the kings take him with the 4th. I think he would be what the kings need. Keep beno as a backup to curry and think about the backcourt of curry and martin. And no, I don't want to hear any comparisons to quincy douby, lol.

  23. Jasneel on May 25th, 2009 8:07 pm

The Kings desperatly need a stud at the point guard position and someone who can lead the team through his passing and defense. If u guys watch Rubio he is a real good defender and can really drop dimes. The Kings should select Rubio with the 4th pick and as for the the 23 and 31 picks i still feel that Petrie can find some gems.

  24. Took on May 25th, 2009 8:14 pm

I was so mad when I saw the updated mock draft, because before that Ricky Rubio was supposedly to be taken 2nd by the Grizzlies, now he can be taken 4th by the Kings, because he didn't want to be Memphis. The reason why I'm mad about that is because I really want the Kings to pick Brandon Jennings. That kid is ILL! And not to be racist or anything, but when was the last time we had a black point guard. We need a black point guard. In the NBA, the elite point guards are black. In my opinion, Rubio's potential can be that of whatever his face that runs the Toronto Raptors, and Brandon Jennings on the other hand has the potential in my eyes to be that of Chris Paul, maybe even better, yeah I said it, BETTER! We need Brandon Jennings damn it!

  25. Took on May 25th, 2009 8:33 pm

But I guess I wouldn't mind seeing Rubio in a Kings Jersey also.

  26. Pol on May 25th, 2009 9:17 pm

Definetly you are racist, but what is even worst you are ignorant, you are mad about having a new Jarryd Bayless!! The truth is Rubio or BUST!!

  27. Joey on May 25th, 2009 10:03 pm

bayless' minutes were to inconsistant. the thing about mayo, rose, gordon, and westbrook, is that they're on bad teams and got to play, where as bayless was on a playoff team. rubio is good no doubt, but his potential is low in my opinion. he has a chance to be a good player. the kings need someone like a derrick rose or paul. brandon jenning has a through the roof potential. if he would have stayed in the states, i have no doubt he'd be 3rd or 4th of the board. he's on a good team so he hardly gets minutes, that's why he is projected 7th. we're basing rubio's potential on youtube videos. we dont know how he's game will translate to the nba.

  28. Joey on May 25th, 2009 10:12 pm

rubio's hype is from youtube. in fact, all rubio fans know about him is from youtube and hype from media.

  29. des on May 25th, 2009 10:17 pm

why would we trade a veteran talent for more rookies? we have kevin martin and cisco. besides you want this rebuilding period to be even longer?

  30. Stephen Bayer on May 26th, 2009 6:56 am

damn why do people keep saying we need curry? news flash - we have a lil dude who is a scoring machine in martin. i say holiday or rubio would be the best point guard (both are great on defense we desperatly need perimeter D). But jennings would be the best pick. I havent been to a kings game in a long time but i hear our fan base is deterioratiing…like we are getting 10 thousand fans at each game….we need some flair back to arco! Jennings will bring that!

  31. sergio on May 26th, 2009 7:00 am

  32. sergio on May 26th, 2009 7:14 am

What about Nash? or Stockton? or Mark Price? Don´t you want this kind of point guard for your team? If you know Calderon (Raptors), be sure Rubio is much, much better than Calderon when he was 18. Don´t doubt about Rubio, it´s our choice for Kings future

  33. jg05 on May 26th, 2009 5:27 pm
  34. vic on May 26th, 2009 6:57 pm

kings should pick brandon jennings, but most likley kings well pick rubio. brandon jennings reminds me of A.I. it doesnt matter which players the kings pick there both good points gaurds, just as long as they dont pick holiday. end of story

  35. nick on May 26th, 2009 7:50 pm

you are absolutely positively right. i love your comment. you know what they say great minds think alike.

  36. die hard kings fan on May 26th, 2009 8:11 pm

the kings need a franchise point guard. jennings could possibly do the job. if he is willig to work hell be very good. people stop baggin on spencer he is guna b goog too. i say we shop the 23 and 31 pick to pick up a beasly type player get a defensive stopper and pick up a good bigman. we have bench that could be very deep with garcia mccants beno hopefully pickup a good center like a tyson chandler and a hasheem thabeet. lets get this team going in the right direction again. go kings and lakers suck

  37. tine2x on May 26th, 2009 9:05 pm

Ricky Rubio!!!!! He's 18 yrs old. He played for the Olympics. He is still the best PG that the KINGS need to draft!

  38. Cesar on May 27th, 2009 5:28 am

its only deep i at the PG and PF positions but I see your point. This draft is a lot better than people think

  39. Cesar on May 27th, 2009 5:30 am

Stephen Curry is a good player and a great scorer but he is not a true point guard and he is a guy who makes a lot of shots because he takes a lot of shots. I just dont think that that is what we need

  40. Cesar on May 27th, 2009 5:35 am

Though Rubio did play against CP3, Deron Williams, and Jason Kidd in the olympics and he played very well against him. No one is basing his potential on videos they are basing it by his age (18) and his already developed skill level. He is in the play-offs in Europe playing in the best League in Europe, you cant say that he wont be able to play in the NBA

  41. Cesar on May 27th, 2009 5:36 am

Hopefully you mean a younger A.I.

  42. getPGwithbounce on May 28th, 2009 9:04 am

Unfortunately, wishful thinking isn't going to bring Griffin, Rubio,or Thabeet to Sacramento. I was hoping for Bandon Jennings at 4, but it's not going to happen. Look at the Combine interview list. There are 4 PG on the list (Flynn, Lawson, Maynor, Teague) plus Holiday that Petrie will hope to fall to 23…if not, it's going to be a SF , most likey Williams or Lawal. At 31, again it's either a PG or SF
(look at the interview list)….most likely Collison or Casspi. So 4 is probably going to be a SG, again, look at the interview list…Harden (6-4 undersized SG), Derozan (SG/SF) , or Evans (SG/PG).
It Petrie wants an SG…it should be Derozan. Harden=young Salmons? If there's a chance to get Holiday at 23, no point in using 4 to get Evans. Derozan has the body (6-6), dunk champion, plus his shooting has improved. Harden v. Derozaon you're wondering…Derozan hands down

  44. Jerry J on May 28th, 2009 10:05 pm

I think it is very likely Rubio will be available at #4 and the King's will get him. The Clippers will take Griffin and Memphis will probably take Thabeet ( need a center, not a PG). That leaves Oklahoma City and they already have an outstanding PG in Westbrook. If things don't work out this way, and Thabeet is available at #4, I think the King's will take him and give up #23 and #31 to move down and get a quality PG. I am not sure Jennings would be the guy because of his height and questionable defensive skills. Petrie prefers taller PG's with better rebounding and defensive skills. Your guess is as good as mine.

  45. richboy on May 28th, 2009 10:36 pm

its amazing that none of you are giving johnny flynn his do. am i the only one that saw him dominate in the ncaa tournament? i dont trust euro- league players and rubio seems to me he would have serious problems at the nba level. jennings may be anotgher story. the kings cant afford any mistakes this year. go with derozan, flynn or curry. must become more ahtletic.

  46. Jerry J on June 1st, 2009 5:51 pm

The draft is becoming more interesting now that the NBA scouts are talking more about the players who will be drafted. We no longer have just the top 3, we now have the top 4. Jordan Hill is drawing raves from many scouts and he could become the 2nd or 3rd pick in the draft. Good news for the Kings who will now have a chance to get Rubio, Thabeet,or Hill. We will get a quality NBA player out of this draft, and I wouldn't be surprised if we traded our 23rd and 31st picks to move down and get a quality PG. Great news for the Kings..
