Petrie’s Second Spain Update
Geoff Petrie wrapped up his European scouting trip today at the ACB Spanish League Game 2 Opening Round Playoff contest in Barcelona, which pitted Real Madrid against the Ricky Rubio-led DKV Joventut. Geoff provided twitter updates throughout the contest, focusing on Rubio, who led DKV to an 82-77 victory, evening the series at 1-1.
Rubio, who was limited to only 10 minutes in Game 1 due to injury, played 30 strong minutes today and finished with 16 points (4-8 FG, 1-3 3pt, 5-6 FT), seven rebounds, and six assists to lead the way for Joventut, including four free throws in the final two minutes that proved to be the difference. Former NBA bigman Jerome Moiso added 16 points and four rebounds for DKV, while former Michigan point guard Louis Bullock paced Real Madrid with 22 points and three assists. The series will resume on Sunday with the decisive Game 3 back on Real Madrid’s home floor.
Greene Working Out at Practice Facility
Kings swingman Donté Greene was in the practice facility today working with Strength and Conditioning Coach Daniel Shapiro. Donté worked out for a couple of hours with Daniel and will be in Sacramento through much of the summer working on his game and fitness/strength. Donté also said he will be stopping by the Kings Lottery event tomorrow at CWebb’s Center Court Restaurant. Festivities will be going strong at CWebb’s beginning around 5 p.m.
Kings First Pre-Draft Workout on Thursday
The Kings scouting staff will host the first of many pre-Draft workouts at the team’s practice facility on Thursday, May 21. While it is unknown yet who will make up the full roster of participants for the workout, the featured invitee will be UCLA freshman point guard Jrue Holiday. Keep checking back to Full Court Press for complete coverage of the team’s prospect workouts leading up to the Draft on June 25.

I like Jrue, hes a beast who played out of position last season for UCLA.
could some one pleas tell geoff 2 draft blake and not ricky rubio
Listen- you obviously aren't a Kings fan. Any Kings fan would know that we have a stable and consistent front line, and as good as Griffin is, our need for a point guard is more noticeable. Rubio won defensive player of the year and MVP- what more could you ask? A brilliant leader, passer, and scorer, Rubio is the next player to dominate the point guard position.
Rubio is terrific, but, you can find a great pg in this pg heavy draft, and Griffin is clearly the BPA
WE OBVIOUSLY NEED TO GET RUBIO
Please understand something, kings DONT NEED another small POWER FORWARD that wont be able to defend big PW (remember playoffs Boozer vs Gasol), kings need a creative and smart PG to bring "MAGIC" to Arco Arena (16pts, 6 assts in Spanish league means +20pts,+10 assts in NBA), NO DOUBT, Rubio is the pick!!!!!!!
Look all you griffin fans.. he is an excellent college player and maybe good player but not a very good fit for sac just YOU TUBE; ricky rubio he is complete great PG he can pass the ball dunk drive throw ally-oops the dude can play i think he is the BPA don't count on blake kings fans we have a talented front line that is young bring in some F.A.'s to fill the roster
NBA is the best basketball leauge in the world to me so if Rubio averaged 16 pts 6 assist in spanish leauge then i dont see him being close to a double double guy. As for Blake, averaging 23 pts and 14 boards in just your sophmore year of college is pretty impressive. Though college ball is nowhere near the NBA level, he still brings other bonuses to the table besides stats. He's tough, he's smart, he's very competitive but has good sportsmanship to go along with that. So not only are you getting a great player thats going to bring you 110% in effort every game, your also getting a great personality that could help bring alot of team chemistry within the Kings (something i think we need). Now i'm no Rubio fan so i dont know much about him but could anybody tell me what else he brings to the table? or is he just a stat guy that's been looked up on youtube too much? Because he might be a good fit for the kings roster but i dont think he would click with the other King players the way Griffin would. Alot of people dont think about that but it should be a very important factor for the Kings.
^——- I guess you didnt see the olyimpics when rubio was ripping the pockets of the greatest players in the U.S. rubio is a better player and. not to mention look where griffin got his team no where he is not much of a leader and look at the conference he played in put griffin in the ACC and he probably wouldnt have gotten noticed as much This rubio guy is also a Thief he can play D unlike beno and bibby and he can dribble the ball and shoot and PASS the guy is a COMPLETE JASON WILLIAMS and he has size 6'3 he is quick not real fast but has a good first step !!!! good fit no GREAT FIT lets go with needs not a dude that can Hit his head on the back board to dunk it !!!!!
I'm pretty sure the games in the Spanish League are not as long as in the NBA, and that's why he is suggesting Rubio's number's go up. And how do you have any idea who will click with the current Kings players and who won't? Maybe Griffin would fit better. Maybe everyone would hate Griffin. You have no way of knowing. Also, "just a stat guy"? "What more does he bring to the table"? Points, rebounds, assists, and steals isn't good enough for you? Just a stat guy? Don't you need points to win a game? And isn't that a stat? Don't rebounds, assists and steals all help your chances of scoring more? Aren't they stats? I'm just not sure what you mean by "or is he just a stat guy"?
Yall have been watching ESPN and euro basketball to much! You said it yourself Pol, "Spanish league!" Not the talent heavy NBA! He's (Rubio) a big fish in a small (crapy) pond!!! He's NOT NBA strength or size ready and there are other (more NBA ready) points in this draft! Lets also remember it has taken almost EVERY OTHER euro player YEARS to adapt to the NBA style of basketball! IF we get no. 1 we would be, out of our minds crazy, if we didn't get Griffin! Does no one realize the reason the Lakes are so good this year isn't just Kobe??? It's cause they have a 3 big man rotation in Gasol, Bynum and Odom!!! What? Did you think Kobe was the one guarding the paint? Those three man (as much as I hate to say it) shut down the paint when they want to against most teams/players! Hawes is going to be a fantastic center and JT is already so much better. Why would you not want that final piece of the big man rotation? If we have the chance to pick up Blake AND a good point as well, lets get it done! I'll tell ya the "last thing we need!" An undersized point, whos just going to get hurt in the ruff and tuff NBA!
I have found that RB stats from college translate well…..14 is a big number
if you rubio fans are trying to say that the kings should pass on griffin and take rubio if we get the first pick need to go somewhere and shut up. There is no way you take rubio over griffin first here. Even if the kings don't get the number one pick, I'd rather that we trade down and get stephen curry than rubio. Get off the euro bandwagon scrubs!
right scrubs yall bood peja you all booed jason williams you boo all ero stars how are you going to say griffin is the man he is going to play what position you mean to tell me that beno is getting the job done you all watch too much hype TV GRIFFIN CAN ONLY Dunk the BALL LET ME SEE A CLIP OF HIM SHOOTING A 17 foot shot or a low post lay up HE CAN RUN AND JUMP ….. you guys (donald) dont have a clue the kings need some D on the perimiter and btw the cat made Chris paul and jason kidd look like 2 year old in the olympics but yeah he comes from the crappy euro league guess you did not see the interview with kobe about rubio ON ESPN! so now who you gonna bench kevin or Jason Thompson?……………………
No worries - we no longer have to worry if Griffin or Rubio will be better.
*sigh*
I agree, he's a big pg with a ton of potential.
Another "bad luck" moment… brought to you by the NBA. Doing it since the 2002 playoffs! : )
Hey look on the bright side! At number 4 we don't have to worry about an exceptional pick or potential "bad luck" occurring in the playoffs. And neither does David Stern, thanks to his "lottery".
Who knows, maybe Sacramento has had just some bad luck…
In any case, I wish Geoff Petrie and the Kings front office the best of luck in turning our team around…
The draft class is poor, but we've done a lot with very little before. Let's hope some of those bad trades were favors that will be returned soon!
GO KINGS!!!!! (And go Nuggets!)
know Mr. Petrie knows way more about the game than I do and I consider myself a Petrie fan…. but as a Kings fan…my 2 cents…….please check out Brandon Jennings. ESPN and NBADraft.net says James Harden should be the Kings pick at 4 (sigh)… but I was relieved to see draftexpress.com pick Jennnings. Sorry Beno fans. Please look at Jennings' video at ESPN and the ones below…he's not just flash…but a pure point guard with bounce

the clippers will get him
we dont need a pg we need a big man. we lost 66 games because we hav terrible big men. we need to build around our best player kevin martin and he needs paint help

to frank, we lost 66 games because of the team in general didnt playnas a team. the bigs need help but they were also inexperienced. k mart, is not your superstar, to take you to the next level. he's a scorer and we need him but not to be the go to guy. But the key to the kings offense is a smart point guard who can lead in assists and can create his shots and also can play team defense. Then get the bigs to help hawes and thompson. the bigs must defend the middle and rebound and of course play team defense. the kings have 3 draft picks….get the best players available and hope that they turn out to be good. Petrie has excellent experience in drafting players. let him do his job. hopefully we can build the team through this draft and trades. as for free agency, thats a different story….do you want to spend this year or wait til there's a player out there worth getting. I say wait til there's a player out there like a chris paul, a nowitzski.
