Silver Lining
May 18, 2009 by Kayte Christensen
Since February, the Sacramento Kings, as an organization, have experienced a lot of change, and it began with the multiple trades that took place before the trade deadline. More recently, the dissolution of “House Party Live,” which, if you’ve been paying attention, was the pre, half and post-game show I participated in with Jim Kozimor, Fat Lever and Henry Turner.
I cannot tell you, in one simple blog, how saddened I am by this news on multiple levels. But speaking from my heart and ignoring the business side of things, I consider the last two years working with Kozimor to be a blessing. He is one of the most talented people I’ve ever come across, during both my sports career and my time in front of the camera. I mourn the loss of our show, which I was so lucky to have been a part of for two years. I wish everyone could have as much fun at work as we did during my stint on “HPL.” I haven’t quite put my head around the fact I won’t be working alongside my ‘Kozi’ anymore. He was more than a colleague in my mind — a close and cherished friend, who will be greatly missed.
My role with the Kings is also changing.
Many people have reached out to me over the past week to find out what the end of “HPL” spells for me. All I can say is that I will remain a member of Kings broadcasting, in some capacity. Until my new role is completely defined, all I can do is assure you, I’m still here and looking forward to whatever new challenge this change will bring my way.
The past week of change within the Kings organization has been difficult for everyone but I am anxious for Tuesday when we will finally find out what pick the Kings will have in the Draft. I try to focus on the good change this pick could bring to this young team that is dedicated to rebuilding and destined for more change in the near future. I could sit here and speculate like many people about who will be drafted and what coach will eventually be hired to take over the reigns of your Sacramento Kings, but I will pass. I will share my thoughts after the lottery and decisions are made.
In the meantime, I will try to find the silver lining in change.

I too will miss Koz. I think the Kings made a mistake letting him go. The silver lining is that we still have you Kayte. And, if the Kings have any sense at all, they will add you to the tv broadcast team with Jerry & what's his name. Your outlook and insite on the games was informative and entertaining during HPL shows. And, would add greatly to the enjoyment of the tv broadcast.
Your input hopefully would eliminate some of the idiotic banter going on during the games. (like hockey, and Jerry's walks and pants)
Your the best, keep up the good work,
I'm wearing black today, albeit black shorts and a tank top cause it's hot.. I share your feelings Kayte, I looked foward to the HPL crew each and every game that Comcast aired. If I had an on air show I would hire all of you.. Jim is one of the best and wherever he is they will have one hell of an on air personality. I shall treasure the autographed HPL photos that were from winning Kayte's caption. Send me a note who at Comcast made the call to eliminate HPL and I will send them my concerns. I wish You, Jim, Henry and Fat, all the best and hhope to see all of you again..
Thank all of the behind the scenes folks as well for creating something worthwhile!
I cant believe HPL is gone : ( who's gonna do halftime?
Another failed move by the kings organization ! house party live was at times more entertaining then watching the kings .( The rebuilding project kings )
This isn't the first mistake the organization has made , deciding to go in another direction then rick adelman , The trades that sent star players elsewhere ,with nothing to show for it , year and year again .
And when allegations came out in 2007 , that the 2002 series between the kings and lakers in the western conference finals , was fixed , the maloofs stand with david stern , when anybody who seen game 6 knew something was wrong .
Its not the economy why the fans dont come anymore !
it was a tragic mistake that the magoofs let a class act go…im suprised that they didnt let kayte go instead she has no knowledge about the nba or kings… just because she played for the wnba doesnt mean she could still keep her damn job.. you guys just like her cause she's a female…..
I totally agree with bob, Koz will to totally missed. Kayte must go, as well as Fat Lever and Henry Turner and the "wiggly dancers". Oh yes, the unknowledgable Angela Tsai to way too irritationing. The MaGoofs need the money to improve the roster. KARLA LAWSON where are you? kAYTE MUST GO.
Just another reason why my wife and I dumped the season tickets and became Portland Trailblazer fans after twenty years of dying for the Kings. I use the Magoof name on ESPN and was hoping others would figure them out as well. What a bunch of turds…they have killed this team with their Hollywood-Las Vegas b.s. The dancers used to fresh faced kids who loved to cheer, now they look like Vegas call girls…Magoofs, please go away.
