Why would they do that? He's a solid big man! One double double in one game wasn't good enough for them?

didnt the thunder but him out tho?

Gooden wanted out… the kings need money and he had an expiring contract + the King stink= Gooden bought out!

He was bought out JTis and smith was waived. This just frees up more cap space. I just hope it's going tward something worth while in the offseason! Sacramento would be alot more attractive place to someone in the 2010 class with a #1 draft pick in Blake Griffin on the team. Lets also make sure Green gets more playing time now that Gooden has been bought out. There's no reason that if we're rebuilding the young/new guys shouldn't be getting used to eachother, the team already has a better attitude! We should also keep starting McCants! He pulls down rebounds, dishes the ball well and can shoot! He has the leadership we need in a starting point! I'd like to see him on the floor with Matin, Noc, JT and Hawes! It's a big but fast lineup that could actually compete with the rest of the size in the NBA! You still have Green for size, Garcia for D (when he feels like playing it) and Jackson for leadership and shot making off the bench. For once the Petrie has EFFECTIVELY changed the makeup of this team! They actually look like a new, more focused team on the court together. As long as there's improvement, i'll come to see the King's any time possible!

    Hey JTKings fan!

The only issue with your statement is McCants is a 2 not a 1, We need an Artest like animal defending and well it is too late Gooden is gone! We also need some swagger like Bobby Jackson brings every night! The young guys are going to be real good but we need people who can play DEFENSE and score the ball and at the same time take their heads out of thier butts and pass the ball to the open guy for easy BUCKETS! That all come with X Experience been there done that kind of stuff. Gooden would have been invaluble teaching the 3- 4 and 5 some hard nose real Basketball that we so desperately need at this time. I just hope they don't trade Nocioni too!

I realize he's a two as of now. That doesn't mean he can't be played as a one though. He has quite a bit of swagger actually, especially when he gets mins! The D most def needs to go up but that should come with coaching and hard work, it doesn't always have to be brought in by a vet though. And if we do happen to pick up Griffen in the draft, we'll have someone dedicated to D and getting better all around. It's good to see the Princeton off. back in Sac town, they do need to keep moving the ball for easy buckets, but that to will come in time. This is a "read and react" offence, so the guys need to get to know one another better and you'll start seeing the passing we so grossly need. Be assured though, they are coming along!

It's okay if Gooden is gone. He's good, but not healthy!
Let's just hope, Blake Griffin get drafted by the KINGS this off-season.
He's one amazing, tough player! did you get to see him play this weekend? he goes to every ball/rebound & dive (like what Shaq does).
I hope he take care of himself though. It's scary to see that nose bleed!
    Can't wait for the off-season!

should be a fun off-season for sure

There have been mixed reviews about D. Gooden throughout his history according to certain people. Some say he's a hard worker and likes to play, others say he's a little picky and doesn't really care.

Maybe this sheds some light? He doesn't want to be around longer than the end of the year, why try to keep him and build a team with him when you know he's leaving?

Good move, keep J. T. at the 4 and he will develop to a better player than Gooden could ever become.

  11. JTKingsFan on March 3rd, 2009 1:19 pm

Even if he is a dedicated player, he's injury prone! I think JT should start regardless of who the kings have avail as a 4. He should be in the top five for rookie of the year, with his dedication and improvement throughout the year. Especially when you take into account the player and coaching changes. They all just really need to get to know each-others game, then that princeton off can really start to shine like it used to. Thank god Pete C. is back!

Blake Griffin? is a college player and lucky to get 2 points and 2 rebounds a game in the NBA, Look at history #1 draft picks do not equate to winning it's always a gamble..

Congratulations to Drew, he is on the Spurs now a team that knows how to play defense. We sure have not figured that magic formula out yet!

Can we transplant Bobby Jacksons brain into the other regular starters? I'm tired of hearing all of the excuses and my posts being removed!

Andrew, the Wizard of Oz has a heart for you and the starters tonight, gut check time!

  13. JTKingsFan on March 5th, 2009 10:24 am

Every rookie is a gamble! JT was a gamble, so was AI for that matter or Duncan, the list go's on and on. Petrie can scout! Everyone knows that. So if Griffin does end up getting picked; it's cause he's the best player avail! At least he has real NBA potential, theres not alot of other players in this draft you can say that about, especially when you consider his work ethic!

  14. tine on March 5th, 2009 6:39 pm

    That's true JT fan.
and I heard @ KHTK awhile ago that even Larry Bird who watched his team Indy played against the KINGS, said that JT got potentials. He's just a rookie, and also Spencer is just a soph. There's a lot of room for improvement, JT's a proven mr. double-double guy during college, and so is Griffin at present.

  15. Jrider916 on March 5th, 2009 9:37 pm

The kings made the right move. Getting rid of Gooden while we still can before he gets hurt. It is a win win scenario for both parties. Now Gooden can play on a deep team like San Antonio and the kings won't get stuck with another player with injuries to take care of. I love Sharif Abdul-Rahim but he got hurt and we all know how that ended up for us. JT and Spence have so much potential and with some good possible additions like a Griffin or thabeet a successful future is insight. Even if the draft goes south we still have enough money to make some moves for a strong free agent. Maybe even a possible Chris Bosh pick up in 2010. Petrie is a smart man, so lets hope he knows what he is doing and lets get this team back on track. As for now I enjoy watching these new line ups. No more lackluster play is bringing back the intensity that we kings fans are used to. Lets start filling some seats now :D.

I believe it is time to let the Kings do what they do best, play Basketball. Drew Gooden could have brought some experience to the team and some good defense. The trade is done. Let's just start playing some old school hoops. The team is coming together as a unit and the attitude is really more upbeat. Let's put all those other trades Mike Bibby, Ron Artest, and Brad Miller in the past. It is time to concentrate on the now. Let the two current bigs on the team play some post up game with some solid defense to collapse the paint.

  17. Matt on March 7th, 2009 3:41 pm

I am dissapointed. We gave up Brad Miller and John Salmonds for these guys and wat do we do? We wave one of the better ones. I was excited when i heard Drew was gonna play for sacramento and i thought that he would be helpful to improve well everything really. Im only 15 but still i know the difference between smart and stupid. I think Drew would of been a great contribute to sacramento but i guess thats behind us. We better get a high draft pick or we will be skrewed. AGAIN!
