Practice: Gooden, Thompson and Martin
February 24, 2009 by Andrew Nicholson
Drew Gooden (groin injury) is a gametime decision for the team’s battle against the Bobcats on Wednesday. It’s a positive sign for the newly-acquired big man, as he hasn’t played since the Bulls-Knicks contest on January 19.
Watch what Kevin Martin, Spencer Hawes and Jason Thompson had to say following the team’s practice - practice Interviews. Topics include players’ individual goals down the stretch, the growth of the new-look team, Hawes and Thompson’s weight-room development and more.
Today’s random tidbit is courtesy of Kings Basketball Developmental Consultant Pete Carril…
As Thompson was the lone player remaining on the practice court answering questions for Kings.com, Carril smiled and interrupted a Thompson answer to ask me, “Are you telling him not to hold the ball above his head?”
Before I could respond, Thompson chuckled and said he had been working on not holding the ball above his head in recent games. He then asked Carril if he had watched the team’s recent road games because he had dished an assist to one of his cutting teammates and pointed to the camera afterward to show appreciation to “Coachie” for the tip that paid dividends on the play.
