Shootaround: Kings-Hornets

February 23, 2009 by Andrew Nicholson

Although the team has battled the injury bug its fair share this season, the only player out of tonight’s Kings-Hornets contest is big man Drew Gooden. The newly-acquired forward/center remains sidelined with a groin injury. As for the starting lineup, it’ll be a gametime decision whether the Kings feature any of the other six new additions at tip-off at ARCO Arena.

Get to know more about point guard Will Solomon in the Gameday Conversation. Topics include — what Kings fans can expect from him, the impact playing overseas had on his game, gelling with his new teammates and a breakdown of the Kings matchup with Chris Paul and the Hornets.

We also caught up with Donté Greene, who’s combined for 16 points, five rebounds, four assists and five blocks in 39 minutes over the past two games, to get his take on adapting to his new teammates.

“I’m definitely going to be one of the guys who’s trying to help them out, especially when it comes to learning the plays and the defense,” Greene said after having a one-on-one meeting with Kings Basketball Development Consultant Pete Carril. “I’m just trying to keep working hard, get better and definitely get on the floor.

“I’ve never been in a situation like this,” Greene continued. “But I’m all for change and you have to be ready for anything in this business, so I’m just going to keep working.”
