Coach Kenny Natt on Drew Gooden:
“I’ve always known Drew to be a very competitive guy, a very versatile guy. At the four spot, very good post-up player who can score on the post and can score on the perimeter. He can pass the basketball because he played point guard coming up in his high school and things of that sort. He just knows how to handle the ball, a little bit too much sometimes! We’ll all learn that as we go that Drew is the type of guy that you just have to show him love and he’ll produce a double-double for you. He’s a legitimate double-double guy, scoring and rebounding.”
Coach Kenny Natt on Andres Nocioni:
“Nocioni, I had a chance to play against him when they were really strong there in Chicago. That’s when Drew and I were together in Cleveland. So we had a lot of battles and he was a major, major part of that team in regards to his strength offensively and a hard nosed defensive player. Very physical guy, tough guy. I’ve always admired those things about him, so he’s definitely going to bring another element to this team in regards to his offense and defensive tenacity. So I’m looking forward to that.”
Coach Kenny Natt on Cedric Simmons:
“He’s long and athletic. We’ll see what we have with him.”
Coach Kenny Natt on Ike Diogu:
“I know Diogu is a very tough guy, physical. I remember he came out and played well for Golden State early in his career. He’s a banger. He brings that physical presence that obviously we need here, so I’m looking forward to that. I think they all bring different elements, but they’re all going to add to our team.”

Wow…the Maloofs and Petrie really know how to trade. Four nobody's for Salmons? You're kidding right? They had an opportunity to pick up an all-star and they opted for these duds. More proof for me not to attend anymore games and move on to another team myself.
We will miss Brad and John, but welcome the new players and hope that there is some turn around this season.
Completely agreed with KingsBeGone
Brad and john were good players but i like this trade. we basically traded miller and salmons salary for nocioni we save money so we can clear thing up next season. As for four nobody's i think your crazy kingsbegone. Did you watch the bulls against the heat in the playoffs. nocioni was the best player in that whole series. He's better than loul deng in my opinion and he's averaging 10 points off the bench and he will be a great starter.
REAL smart trading Salmon's!!! He's the best at creating his own shots and super reliable down the stretch. The rest, I think, was smart move trade wise to build for the future.
I'm sure from the way the season has been going we (kings Fan) should have seen this coming. WTF is going in the general office? I'm guessing they did this to try and convience the city they (kings) are no longer wanted here. So you trade a John and Brad for who??????? I'm confused. I guess they wanted to free up some $$$$$ since no one is going to the games.
I agree with joker i saw that playoff game he was talking about, i also have alot of faith in Drew Gooden i hope he can do good for our team but we will miss John Salmons and R-rad best of luck to both those Kings. Go Kings!
Honestly, if it helps clear space for the future then I like it. If it doesnt work out at least you can drop farther in the standings. Lets see how they work out and in my eyes no trade will be as bad as the Webber trade since one of his replacements sat on the end of the bench watching his jersey retirement. Heres to the #1 pick.
I agree with joker i saw that playoff game he was talking about, i also have alot of faith in Drew Gooden i hope he can do good for our team but we will miss John Salmons and B-rad best of luck to both those Kings. Go Kings!
What a bogus deal! Gooden is washed up and Nocioni cant play any D.
This deal is crap…thats all i can say
vamossss chapuu nocioni , 100 % heart
This trade happened to clear cap space. We will have a top 3 pick plus another first rounder from the Artest trade (probably around 22nd pick), which I think we will package to move up in the draft. The cap space we have now allows us to go big in this years draft and the next two free agencies, which have a lot of marquee players. And Nocioni isn't terrible, he's been playing behind one of the better Small Forwards in the league and putting up solid numbers from the bench. Obviously we'll miss Salmons 18 a game, but we have 11 wins…let's plan for the future.
I think two years from now and see this trade as the trade that turned the franchise around. I love what the Kings are doing. Look for the Kings to be a consistant playoff team now.
AVERY JOHNSON HEAD COACH FOR KINGS!!! HIRE HIM!!!!!
It's all about the future. I see a team built arouond Martin Udrih, Thompson, and Hawes. They need to mature and be surrounded with good players. Miller is over the hill and of no use on a losing team; let him go and try elsewhere. Salmons was good, but we weren't winning with him; let's change it up. Nocioni is a solid player and I've always been him on Diogu, I just think that he got a bum deal; let's see what he can do. Besides, the more cap we clear, the more we can pay LeBron in 2010! LMAS. I'm okay (not thrilled) with this trade, but the Cassell deal??? WTF??? Why did we trad a second round pick for a retiring player that we immediately release?
Everything Connor said is exactly right. As for Cassell, we got cash with the deal too and i think that is why we did it.
I am a Bulls fan and I want you guys to know you are a getting two stand up guys in Drew Gooden and Andres Nocioni. Noch is one of the hardest workers in this league and gives it 110% every night. At times he is to agressive on D. and can be caught out of position, but you guys will come to love his heart and fire. Drew Gooden is a solid player. Has a lot of heart and suprisingly is a pretty good vocal leader. While I feel the Bulls got a solid deal for themselves both teams will come out happy with the players they got (but I don't know if that means for wins for either, especially the kings)
Nocioni is a nobody..?? Well here is what Nocioni is capable of and we are going to miss our fan favorite here in Chicago. He is not afraid to step up on people that are going to dunk on him. Sure he gets dunked on, but who else steps up to them like he does? NOBODY!!! Noch was huge in the 2 playoff runs the Bulls had and he will remembered here in Chicago as the one that got away. Enjoy what Nocioni and Gooden will bring to your 30 fans that attend your games at Arco.
NO-CIO-NI!!!!!

Hi there,
Yeah this was a surprise a move something which I never expected to happen to Noce. He has been one of the best players in the Bulls roster during the last few years.
Anyway, as for the future, I would love to hear your thoughts on does he fit in the Kings game plan?

YAY! hmmm I wonder what blake griffin will do for us? especially with the youngsters thompson and hawes I think that this wasnt the best of trades for now…but I mean come on…we have 11 wins this gets us better and hawes can finally step into a starting role (as long as he doesnt foul out like he did tonight) we have another first rounder I think both of these guys(gooden nocioni) can be role players just…who are we gonna get to to 2guard? i dont think cisco is a good long term option but who knows l guess well see how this season pans out…
I'm Excited about Nocioni, he may give us that much needed presence goin to the hoop, so we can free up the D from the outside and get our 3 game back, anyways all in all is it an earth shattering trade? not really… but all we can do is look to next year and hope that petrie will get us a decent coach (no offense to coach natt) but one with experience, and now that we have enough salary space i dont know maybe some form of star? Go Kings!!!
i think Nocioni will bring much needed defense to the kings. It will bring back some toughness that was lost when Artest left. I'm not a big fan of drew gooden but i'm happy to get rid of brad miller and john salmons. We'll just have to wait and see how he does. This is my first time posting here but i have a lot to say. I've never really like nor will i probably ever like the play of Beno. He is very inconsistant… except in turnovers, (just like the one he had at the end of the game tonight) he always seems to put up a high number of turnovers.
I wanted to know what some of your predections for the starting 5 with the new lineup of the kings. Nocioni will probably compete against Francisco for the starting 3 job but if it were up to me my starting lineup would look like this.
1. Cisco
2. K Mart
3. Nocioni
4. JT
5. Spencer
Cisco can bring the ball very well, he is also a much better set shooter which he can be as the point. Offense can go through K mart or Nocioni as well as JT and Spencer can play high low, both are very comfortable in the post or up top.
In the rotation would be
Beno, Jackson, Green, Gooden
I know i said a lot, sorry for the ramble, just wanted to get my thoughts out there.
yeah! Martin, Thompson and Hawes.. keep them.. they are the king's foundation!
my ideal first five for Kings.. C-Hawes, F-Thompson, F-Nocioni, G-Martin, G-Francisco OR Udrih
I remember when everyone thought Chris Webber was just going to be a problem child and why did the Kings do THAT.
Brad Miller has been phoning it in all season. His attitude made him a less than attractive trade piece. Salmons was a solid player, but a good trade value.
Everyone says "something needs to be done". Well…. "something" has (and may yet still) be done. They cannot keep and trade the same players at the same time. No team is going to give up a top talent for them for, say, Shelden Williams. Who may indeed be a fine player but no one knows that because he has like 3 minutes on the court.
This is the business of basketball. When you're dead last, you make changes. THIS team isn't working well together. Trade out two, waive one (cause that other waiver was never part of the team) and get three who will provide a different chemistry.
Cripes. It was different last night already.
I think Nocioni has a great chance of fitting in because he can be a starter or come of the bench and not make a big deal about it. As far as Kings gameplan, the second half of the season for a team not in the playoff picture is all about production over wins. With Miller gone, they will look for a more up tempo team and Nocioni can fit that style without a problem.
You all haters need to shut the f up Ive been a Kings fan for 20 years the kings have been through hard times before. you all are still hanging on to the past here listen to this LET IT GO THE PAST IS THE PAST. If you were a true kings fan you'd stick it out. This is the future stop living in the past and deal with it don't bitch about there nothing you can do you don't own them you don't coach them all your job is is to be a fan
Who exactlly are you talking about when you say they had an opportunity to pick up an all star?
well i hate to see john and brad go…the fact is that the kings have to clear cap space. we got two decent players, hopefully we can at least start playing better and winning a few games. brad and john, you are both treats in my book.
why you take my stuff off dude its the TRUTH REAL KINGS HERE
I am glad to see the Kings mgmt. is trying to do something! I did like the way some of the ones we lost would fervently cheer on the side lines like in the good days but Mikki always looked like a sulking child whenever he had to leave the floor and was lousy at the basket as well as foul prone, Salmons held the ball too much and forced shots, Brad was too timid in taking shots, and Bobby was too sporadic.
I did feel sorry for Douby and Sheldon since I think with more playing time they will be better. Koz's team said you cannot make offensive players into defensive. So what I am hearing is that we have acquired some defensive players or at least they will leave it all out on the floor. Which is what Sacramento wants to see. So, come on guys, give them a chance before we start knocking or booing them. Oh by the way, has anyone heard if we are permanently keeping Kenny Thomas?
Come on. This trade was made to clear salary cap space so they have more options during the offseason. As for the players, Andres Nocioni is a tough and physical player which something the Kings need and he is also a good three point shooter. Drew Gooden may be old but he is still physical, a good rebounder, and a decent post player. The other two players are probably not going to play much. John Salmons had his moments and was a good player but 3 of these four players have 1 year left on their contracts and Salmons had to go, and who knows, maybe we'll get more assists now that we don't have a semi-ballhog. Brad Miller had a big contract that had to go and now Donte Greene and Spencer Hawes has more room to grow and develop
Kingdom - clearing cap space for LeBron? Put down the pipe there is no amount of money that would see him moving to Kings. He is going to get money from a team in title contenion.
Gooden is a great asset and if used right will average a double double.
